2011 Community Arts Program

Creative projects are the focus of a 2011 Community Arts Program as a way to give back to our senior population, and the facilities that care for them. As business budgets are tightened and activities budgets are squeezed, The Extended Play Dates are a community based arts program comprised of local, well known artists who are recognized in their chosen fields of poetry, creative writing, hands on crafts, fine arts, theme oriented projects, photography, storytelling, and much more. The artists will bring the arts into the community on a volunteer basis and will accept materials purchases for supplies by individual buildings, including nominal reimbursement to artist when funds are available.

Mission Statement

Art = Wellness
Each opportunity to meet with a senior group, in a recognized Living Facility geared toward aging, will: promote socialization, encourage individualization, creative expressions of a life time, emphasis on generational interpretations, promote cognition, enhance motor skills, encourage speech and cognitive conversation. Participation in the creative processes can improve mood, support fine and gross motor skills, and enhance dexterity as well as promote cognition and speech. Each activity is attended by an RN with an extensive home health background and an active community artist. The Extended Play Dates also includes several assisting active community artists... See Bio’s attached. The Extended Play Dates Year Calendar will follow the traditional holidays and recognitions of the yearly calendar for cognition. Each activity is artist led. Each senior attendee will have individual assistance to accomplish each project to completion.
